General Manager

Steve comes to Mission Viejo with over 25 years of General Management experience including Yorba Linda, Marbella, and most recently Pauma Valley.  Steve was born and raised in Orange County, and currently resides in South County.  Steve is married to wife Carrie and together they have 3 children.
MARK MCDONOUGH   Director of Golf

Mark joined the MVCC staff as the Director of Golf after a brief stint as the Head Golf Professional at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club.  Mark’s experience includes working as the Head Golf Professional at Marbella Country Club in San Juan Capistrano from 2012-2020, 1st Assistant at Mesa Verde Country Club in Costa Mesa, where he mentored under Tom Sargent from 2003-2012.  He also worked at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine as an Assistant Golf Professional / Office Manager (1999-2003).  Mark became a member of the PGA of America in 2005.


Mark graduated from Mission Viejo HS in 1992, where he was a two-year letterman in football and baseball.  He then went on to Saddleback JC where he played football for two years and was a member of Saddleback’s 1992 National Championship team.  Shortly after, Mark decided to hang up his cleats and focus on golf.  Mark graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1998 receiving a degree in Recreation Administration with a concentration in Sports Marketing / Special Events.  Mark currently lives in Mission Viejo, CA with his wife Mollie and three children Mason, Morgan & Mia.  In his free time, Mark enjoys water & snow skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

FERNANDO MORAN   Golf Course Superintendent 

Fernando was born in Los Angeles, CA and was raised in Whittier, CA.  After graduating high school, Fernando enlisted in the US Military as a Field Artilleryman and served a 4-year tour of duty.  Two of those years were spent stationed in Germany as well as six months in Kosovo.  After his military service he enrolled in college as an Architecture Major.  He then changed his major to Landscape Architecture which opened the doors for him to earn a degree in Plant Science from Cal Poly Pomona.  During his time in college, he held several internships at various properties including San Gabriel Country Club.  He was also awarded an internship with the USGA whereas he traveled and consulted with Pat Gross, West Coast Sr. Agronomist for the USGA.
MARIA HERNANDEZ   Food & Beverage Director

Maria has been with MVCC since the grand opening of the Main Clubhouse in 2010.  She started as a Hostess and then progressed her way to a Server, Dining Room Manager, Assistant Director and now Food & Beverage Director and has greatly enjoyed here time here at the Club.  Maria enjoys going to the gym, listening to music, and spending quality time with her husband Arturo and her 3 kids, Jonathan, Chris and Sofia.
Veronica Alva Roman 
VERONICA ALVA ROMAN   Controller / Human Resources Director

Veronica, an Accounting graduate of Cal-State Fullerton, prepares the club’s financial statements and oversees our Human Resources activity. A So Cal native, Veronica has worked in the private club industry for many years, and looks forward to addressing any question the membership may have concerning financial matters at the Club. When away from the Club, Veronica and her husband, Gus, enjoy life’s pleasures with their son, Aiden.
IRENE YELVINGTON   Catering and Tournament Director

Irene, our Catering Director, has served the Club’s membership for many years in a variety of key food and beverage functions. A Canadian who now embraces the So Cal life, Irene makes every function hosted by the Club that special affair that a planner is seeking. Irene enjoys life’s adventures with her two children Jake and Evalyn.

LYNNETTE ARREOLA   Catering Events Sales Manager

Lynnette has been with Mission Viejo Country Club since 2006 and served as Bella Vista Supervisor before taking on her current role as Catering Events Sales Manager.  Lynnette grew up in Central California and moved to Orange County in 2000.  She and her husband Jason enjoy life in the OC with their daughter Annika and their son J.J.
SHANNON BRENNAN   Membership Sales Director

Shannon is a native of Mission Viejo and graduated from the University of California, Irvine.  She started out at MVCC in the Golf Shop as the Merchandiser, and also worked in Member Relations before taking on her current role as Membership Sales & Communications Director.  Shannon also works as a Professional Singer throughout Southern California.  She currently resides in Mission Viejo with her husband Tom (former MVCC Golf Pro) and their two sons Cameron and Connor.
AARON KNIGGE   Executive Chef

Aaron graduated top of his class from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, CA in 2000.  He stayed in the Los Angeles area at restaurants such as Parkway Grill, Arroyo Chop House, Hollywood & Vine, and La Poubelle.  His other career endeavors included opening McKays restaurant and Lab Gastropub at the University of Southern California, he was the Executive Chef for the 2007 year of MTV's 'Malibu Beach House', and he worked in Temecula at Vail Ranch Steakhouse.  Aaron most recently worked as the Corporate Executive Chef of Stadium Brewing Companies, serving locations in Aliso Viejo, Redondo Beach, and Fullerton.  Aaron and his wife Tuesday have been married since 2014.  They have 3 dogs: Molly Mae, Maggie Sue, and Ruby Tuesday.  Aaron's hobbies include golf, traveling, hiking with the dogs, camping, fishing, and hunting.
Simon Paek   Director of Racquet Sports

Simon Paek is a former two term President of the USPTA, California Division as well as being honored as California Division's Professional of the Year.  He also served on the National Executive Committee of the USPTA from 2000-2006.  Simon enjoyed working as a National Coach for the USTA, working and traveling with top juniors from California, Oregon and Washington, but loves working with and watching League Ladies improve their skills.  A frequent speaker at conferences, topics range from Senior Doubles, Racquet Stringing, Programming and High Performance to name a few.  A graduate of The University of California Irvine (UCI) with a BA in Political Science in 1988, Simon is a proud father of 3 lovely girls.
ROBERT MAIER   Director of Property Management

Robert has 15 years experience as a maintenance mechanic, specializing in plumbing.  In 2010, he received his California State Certification for maintenance mechanic CF in Tracy, CA. Robert is a California native who enjoys a peaceful life in San Clemente with his wife Delilah and two children Robbie and Avery.
